Suridh 'Shaz' Hassan
printed on Giclée Hahnemühle Bamboo
Havana's streets are narrow and old. Take a step forward and it looks like a photoshoot then head round the corner and it's a construction site. Everything in Havana feels best explored on foot, from it's great public spaces to the waterfront and it was really enjoyable trying to capture some portraits whilst I was there.
This picture was taken later on in my 3 weeks travelling across the island. I'd lost my travelling companion and armed with only my Nikon FM2 I ran about Havana snapping pics. In fact not long after this shot was taken, I was stopped by local cops who thought I'd stolen the camera and didn't believe I was a tourist. My terrible Spanish and my British passport made the conversation a quick one and I was back on road taking more pics.
